The University of La Verne announced on June 9 that it has joined the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge. Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country are joining the effort initiated by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education to help end the pandemic by increasing vaccination participation among students and university communities.
Isabella Guzman took a break from her role as head of the nation’s Small Business Administration—a cabinet-level post—to tell graduates of the University of La Verne that “there is no greater measure of success than service to others, because it’s not enough to achieve for yourself alone. Your community, your city, your state, your country are only as strong as you make them.”

Plans are now underway to organize a College of Health and Community Well-Being as the fifth college of the University of La Verne.

The University of La Verne has received a gift of $2 million from prominent real estate executive and philanthropist Randall Lewis. The gift will establish the Randall Lewis Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Social Impact.
The University of La Verne’s College of Law won Best Brief in the ninth annual UCLA School of Law Cybersecurity Moot Court Competition that took place virtually on March 13. That same weekend, a second university team won Best Brief at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 26th annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition, held remotely on March 12.
Students in the University of La Verne’s journalism program have recently won two prestigious awards from Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), one of the leading associations for student journalists and their faculty advisers.
