The University of La Verne’s REACH Summer Business Camp for high school students from underserved regional communities has entered into a partnership with Fleischer Scholars, a nonprofit organization dedicated to modeling educational and career success for economically disadvantaged youths.
Beloved and highly influential Leopard baseball coach Ben Hines ’58, who guided our team to its first-ever national championships back in the 1970s, sadly passed away in 2021, while the pandemic was still raging. On April 9, the University of La Verne’s alumni community finally had an opportunity to publicly honor this Leo legend at a special event featuring a double-header game against California Lutheran University.
Thanks to a significant gift from attorney and alumnus Frank J. Lizarraga, Jr. ’80, the University of La Verne has endowed its first dean. Lizarraga’s gift supports the dean of the College of Law, a position currently held by Kevin S. Marshall, JD, MPA, PhD. Effective immediately, Marshall assumes the title of the Frank Lizarraga Endowed Dean of the College of Law.
Students may apply for these grants of up to $1,500 beginning Thursday, May 7.
The gift will support upgraded facilities, state-of-the-art equipment, and additional faculty in the newly-named Nathan Chow Program of Film and Television.
