Students enrolled in the University of La Verne’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) Practice program marked their coming transition from classroom to clinical education in a White Coat ceremony held December 11 in the Ann and Steve Morgan Auditorium on campus.
The second cohort of graduates in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) Practice program celebrated their accomplishments together with a ceremony in the Ann and Steve Morgan Auditorium on December 4.
The Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (OCHCC) presented President Devorah Lieberman of the University of La Verne with its Dr. Juan Francisco Lara Education Award on November 20 during the organization’s Estrella Awards. The event was held at the Disneyland Hotel.
Students who are first in their family to attend college were honored at the University of La Verne during the month of November. Faculty, staff, and students shared stories and learned from others about their experiences in navigating college.
Hundreds of families in the community received food and sanitizing supplies during drive-through pantry events held on October 6 and November 17. Members of the University of La Verne Enactus team joined with the Sowing Seeds for Life organization to staff the events.
The University of La Verne has been serving the military and veteran communities for over 50 years. Last year more than 450 military personnel, veterans, and family members enrolled at the university.
The inaugural Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) graduate cohort exceeded the first-time pass rate national average on their board of certification exams, placing them at an 89 percent pass rate. This brings the cohort far above the 61.6 percent national average , and of those that passed, each has secured employment.
Devorah Lieberman, president of the University of La Verne since 2011, has been named CEO/President of the Year by the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership. The award was presented during the Economic Partnership’s gala on October 9 in Diamond Bar. It has been given annually since 1991.
The University of La Verne has been selected to receive a Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM Program grant by the U.S. Department of Education. The grant is in the amount of $999,901 for the first yearly budget period, which begins October 1. It is anticipated that the grant will be renewed for a total of five years. This is the second Title III grant that the University of La Verne has received.
More than 120 new University of La Verne students met with 21 local community organizations during the Office of Community and Civic Engagement’s (OCCE) annual FLEX & New Student Community Engagement Day on September 10.
