Three University of La Verne students are spending their summer as interns at the prestigious City of Hope, a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center and independent biomedical research institution located in Duarte, California, just 15 miles from the university’s central campus.
Hundreds of first-year students eagerly lined up on August 15 at the check-in booth outside of Citrus Hall, the newest housing facility on the University of La Verne central campus, to collect their dorm keys. New students were finally moving into campus facilities for the first time since the pandemic necessitated remote-only instruction in March 2020.
Students studying chemistry and physics at the University of La Verne’s central campus this fall will benefit from state-of-the-art, newly renovated labs when in-person classes begin again on August 23.
The University of La Verne’s fourth annual Makerspaces for Innovation and Research in Academics (MIRA) conference will take place virtually on Thursday, July 15, and will feature a range of solutions from makerspaces all over the country.
The University of La Verne has resumed many on-campus operations as it prepares to welcome back students for fall 2021. La Verne Campus offices such as Undergraduate Admissions, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Student Affairs, and Registrar are now available to provide walk-in support to students.
Additional offices and departments, such as the Wilson Library and the Lewis Center for Well-Being and Research, will return in phases throughout the summer. Regional campuses will resume on-campus operations on August 2.
The University of La Verne has appointed Emmeline de Pillis as the new dean of the College of Business and Public Management. She will join the university on July 12, replacing Abe Helou, who had served as dean since 2008.

Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country are joining the effort initiated by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education to help end the pandemic by increasing vaccination participation among students and university communities.
With limited face-to-face sales options available due to state and county COVID-19 restrictions, the three Integrates Business Program teams found ways to supplement sales through online platforms. Their total sales in spring 2021 reached over $12,000—an increase of approximately $4,400 over spring 2020.
