Frequently Asked Questions
- Question What do I need to do if I want to take a course at another institution?
- Answer
Please refer to the Transfer and Evaluation Center’s webpage for information about how to transfer courses to the University of La Verne. Information about the articulation of courses can also be found on this page.
- Question How do I know if my transfer work has been processed?
- Answer
Once official transcripts from your transfer institution have been received and processed, you can verify the credits by logging into MyLaVerne and reviewing your academic unofficial transcript.
- Question Will a D grade transfer to La Verne?
- Answer
Only coursework completed with a grade of C- or better will be considered for transfer to the University.
- Question Can I go to another institution to repeat a course I already took at La Verne?
- Answer
If you passed the course at La Verne, you may not repeat it for credit at another institution, unless the course is deemed “repeatable” in La Verne’s course catalog.
If you failed the course at La Verne, you may repeat it for credit at another institution. HOWEVER, the original failing grade will continue to calculate into your GPA. The only way to rehabilitate your GPA (by excluding the failing grade and including a passing grade) would be to repeat the exact same course at La Verne.
- Question When will I receive my admission evaluation?
- Answer
If you are a confirmed student, you should expect to receive your admission evaluation four to six weeks from the date you paid your deposit.
- Question Why haven’t my transfer courses been applied to my major?
- Answer
The Evaluation’s Office does not articulate courses towards the major. To be considered for the major, a transfer course must be reviewed and approved by the major academic advisor and/or Department Chair. If the course is approved, your advisor must submit a signed Major Substitution Form to the Evaluation’s Office at evaluations@laverne.edu.
- Question I have recently been admitted. When can I expect my transfer units to be evaluated?
- Answer
The evaluation of transfer units for new students are processed in order of date received. The average file will be processed within 4 – 6 weeks of receipt by the Evaluation’s Office, after which time you will receive an official evaluation of degree requirements (Degree/Program Evaluation).
- Question I am a new student and have coursework from another institution. How do I know if my transfer units have been accepted, and how they have been applied?
- Answer

You may also view an unofficial copy of your Degree/Program Evaluation through Degree/Program Evaluation, which you can access through MyLaVerne. Please visit Degree/Program Evaluation for further information.
- Question I believe I have transfer coursework that will be applicable to my major. Who should I contact?

- Question I have sent transcripts from another institution to La Verne. How do I know if you received them?
- Answer
If you are a new student, your transfer units will be evaluated and processed in order of the date received, typically within 4-6 weeks of receipt to the Registrar’s Office. You will receive an official evaluation of graduation requirements (Degree/Program Evaluation) upon final processing of your admission materials and transfer credit. You can also check the status of your transfer credit online through MyLaVerne, either through Degree/Program Evaluation or review of your academic transcript.
If you are a continuing student, your transfer units will also be evaluated and processed in order of date received, typically 2-4 weeks of receipt to the Registrar’s Office. You may view any coursework that has been added to your official record online through MyLaVerne, either through Degree/Program Evaluation or review of your academic transcript.
If you are concerned that your transcript was not received, first check with your academic advisor. If the transcript was not received by your advisor, you should then verify with the transfer institution that the transcript was sent correctly.
