Organizations and spaces on campus that support undocumented students:

The Center for Multicultural Services Dream Team Advisory Group is a campus-wide team working to identify, create, and sustain supports and resources for undocumented/ DACAmented students at La Verne. You can contact the Dream Team by contacting Dr. Daniel Loera, Director of Multicultural Affairs, Center for Multicultural Services at dloera@laverne.edu. Undocumented/DACAmented students can also access computers and free printing in the Center for Multicultural Services. The Center for Multicultural Services is located on the second floor of the Ludwick Center for Spirituality, Cultural Understanding, and Community Engagement, room 205.

What do I do if I experience bias, bigotry or discrimination because of my status?

Every person who is part of the University of La Verne community (students, faculty, staff, etc.) is encouraged to fill out the Social Justice Incident Report Form. Can I apply for campus housing if I am an undocumented student?

Yes. All students, regardless of documentation status, are eligible to apply for housing on campus. For more information about the housing residential life program at the University of La Verne, please contact https://laverne.edu/housing/

I have a diagnosed disability. Do I have access to disability services on campus?

Yes. Office of Accessibility Services approves and manages for reasonable accommodations for students with clinical documentation of disabilities to allow for a comprehensive and equitable collegiate experience. Accessibility services can be reached at: https://laverne.edu/accessibility/ 

Can I use services offered by the Academic Success Center such as tutoring, or guidance from academic coaches?

Yes. All students are highly encouraged to utilize the services provided by the Academic Success Center (ASC). Even if you are doing well, you are encouraged to utilize the services of the ASC in order to elevate your academic success to another level. If I am ill, can I receive medical care at the University Student Health Center?

Yes, but there are some limitations. Full-time students (12 units) and graduate international students (3 or more credit hours) are automatically enrolled in our University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Students taking a minimum of 6 units can purchase insurance for fall and spring semesters. For inquiries, call Student Health Center at 909-448-4619. If I am undocumented, can I use the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)?

Counseling services are currently provided through a variety of means, including virtually via Zoom, or by phone at no cost to all currently enrolled students (undergraduate, graduate, CAPA, Law and ROC). Crisis services: If in crisis, one is encouraged to call 9-1-1 or if not life – threatening, call CAPS at 909-448-4105 to speak with CAPS staff member. Am I eligible for University of La Verne financial assistance?

It depends. If you are a California resident and have graduated from a California high school, complete the CA Dream Act application to be considered for state and institutional financial aid. If you are not a California resident or graduate from a California high school, private loans and scholarships can assist. Can I receive free legal advice from the University of La Verne College of Law’s Justice and Immigration Clinic?

Yes. The College of Law’s Justice and Immigration Clinic (JIC) is a legal clinic led by law students in providing noncitizens with pro bono immigration services. The JIC provides free immigration consultations to undocumented and DACAmented La Verne students and may be able to assist students in their DACA applications, as well as other immigration related applications. Can I receive career preparation and placement guidance from the Career Center?

Yes. Where do I go for academic advising?

The Office of Academic Advising facilitates individualized advising for all students in all stages of life and academic tracks. We assign faculty or professional academic advisors in each field of study, we advise undeclared majors, and provide administrative and advising support to traditional-age students and their advisors.
