Professional Vision

“Academic advising is not just a job, it is a profession. Whether you are a faculty member or a staff advisor, your role as a professional in the field of academic advising should include a self awareness of your role and impact as an academic advisor; always conduct yourself with professionalism; be trustworthy and ethical; continuously learn and grow and to be of service to others. A few ways to meet these conditions is to familiarize yourself with conceptual and procedural aspects of academic advising, stay up to date with the current literature, participate in regional and national membership organizations such as NACADA, and being aware of, and search for, best practices in academic advising across the country which might benefit you professionally, your advisees, and your college or university.”
